Barbara Taylor Bradford, one of the world's best-selling and most beloved authors was honored on postage stamps by two nations in a rare living postal tribute. The best selling storyteller was depicted on stamps by the nations of Grenada and St. Vincent on November 14th.

The stamps kicked off a new international postal series paying tribute to the great writers of the 20th century. Special ceremonies with the world-renowned author were held in New York at Le Cirque on November 14th and in London at the Dorchester Hotel on November 21st to celebrate this historic occasion.

Among the celebrities attending the New York event were Joan Rivers and Robin Leach.

The two nations each issued a single oversized stamp featuring an image of Barbara Taylor Bradford from different eras of her remarkable literary career. On the border of the two stamp sheets, the covers of Bradford's most popular books are shown including A Woman of Substance, A Sudden Change of Heart, Angel, A Secret Affair, Where You Belong and The Woman In His Life. At the top of each sheet are the words "Barbara Taylor Bradford - Great Writers of the 20th Century."

With this rare living postal tribute, Barbara Taylor Bradford becomes the first living female author to be honored with a stamp in her lifetime. Until now, Sidney Sheldon had been the only living author to grace legal tender by any nation. He was honored in 1999 by the nation of Guyana.

United States postal regulations do not permit the honoring of living people until 10 years after their deaths, who may be honored on their next birthday after their deaths.

Other recent living icons to achieve postal immortality on the stamps of countries represented by Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corp. include Bob Hope, Kirk Douglas, Barbra Streisand, Jackie Chan, Bob Dylan, John Glenn and David Copperfield.

For over twenty years, Bradford has been perhaps the world's best known female author, having sold over 60 million books in 40 languages and 90 countries. Nine of these titles were turned into television movies starring some of the biggest names in film and were broadcast to worldwide audiences.

Born in Great Britain, Barbara now splits her time between London and New York where she continues to draw inspiration in writing her popular novels.
