New John Glenn Stamps
Two small countries have issued stamps to celebrate John Glenn's flight:
Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia. Both are former protectorates of the United States known for issuing topically-popular stamps on subjects with which they have little connection.

The designs for the two countries' stamps are similar: Two sheets of 8
stamps each; one depicts Glenn's 1962 flight, the other Glenn as a Senator
and in training for this mission.
Palau and Micronesia are represented by the NYC firm of Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation, which in a press release says it coordinated the stamps with the cooperation of NASA and Glenn's Ohio Senatorial office.
Turks and Caicos Islands also issued a John Glenn stamp and
souvenir sheet on July 30. |
The Marshall Islands also issued a booklet of six 60 cent stamps and a $3
souvenir sheet on October 29th. |
