Great Britain will issue a set of seven stamps on July 17 depicting the covers of the seven Harry Potter books (UK editions), reports VSC British correspondent Ian Billings. The release date for the stamps will be just four days prior to the worldwide release of the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7).
The issue will come out just four months after France had shocked many in the philatelic world by releasing its own Harry Potter stamps and a month after Australia's not-quite-as-shocking boy wizard stamps. But note that the French and Australian stamps feature depictions from the movies; the British stamps feature the books.
In addition to the seven stamps depicting the book covers, Royal Mail also will issue a souvenir sheet with the crests of the Hogwarts school and the four houses of the fictional school of magic.
