The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries
There are FOUR holograms in the space stamps the U-S is
issuing this summer at World Stamp Expo, not just one as
previously announced. Those stamps are for the Priority
and Express Mail rates.
The Postal Service is again reassuring collectors that its
Black Heritage series will continue, despite rumors on the
Internet to the contrary. It also has no plans to collect
a tax on e-mail -- that's another urban legend.
It was a busy week for U-S stamp collectors, with the
Celebrate the Century 1990s stamps issued on Tuesday at the
San Diego Zoo and the Distinguished Soldiers stamps
Wednesday at the Pentagon.
The American Topical Association -- the second largest stamp
group in the U-S -- is debating discontinuing its membership
directory, which shows members' addresses. Earlier this year,
two brothers who had specialized for 20 years in stealing
stamp collections were arrested. They'd been using another
organization's membership directory as their atlas.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
