A slice of America.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
We were given a preview of next year's U-S stamps recently,
and the big issue is a set of 50 stamps, one for each state.
Each one, says design chief Terry McCaffrey, will look like
one of those "Greetings" postcards from the 1930s.
"It is what we consider the blockbuster of the year. In fact,
all of our promotional efforts are being built around this
stamp more than any of the other stamps."

Another major issue is Teddy Bears, inspired by a stamp in the
Celebrate the Century series.
"We had hundreds of letters and phone calls asking for a separate
stamp because of the interest from teddy bear collectors."
RUNS :06
But that was nothing compared to the campaign for responsible pet
ownership.
"The Spay and Neuter, yes, was extremely popular. We got almost
200,000 letters and petitions for that particular stamp."

The arts will be represented by Houdini, Langston Hughes,
Ogden Nash, Irving Berlin, Andy Warhol and American Photographers,
but we don't yet know who the Legend of Hollywood will be.
