Trick or Treat!
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Next Wednesday, Hallowe'en, the Postal Service will show you
the designs for most of next year's stamps, on the cable
network C-SPAN's Washington Journal show.
That's if news permits, of course.
We've already seen some of the designs: The fifty state
Greetings from America stamps were unveiled at a travel
convention, to help give that industry a shot in the arm.
The quartet of Teddy Bears was in the October Smithsonian
magazine. Bob Barker revealed the spay-and-neuter-your-pets
stamps on his "Price Is Right" game show.
This weekend's U-S-A Weekend magazine in many newspapers
will show the Irving Berlin stamp...a Las Vegas magician will
pull the Houdini stamp out of a hat on Monday, or something
like that...and a New York art gallery Tuesday will host the
Andy Warhol stamp at an invitation-only event.
If you miss any of these unveilings, don't worry: Most of the
designs are already on the Internet, or will be before the
first trick-or-treater arrives at your door.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
