The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
 
It APPEARS that the next Legends of Hollywood subject will 
be John Wayne. I've seen finished artwork in the stamp 
format for the Duke, but the Postal Service won't confirm 
it. Officials say there are four or five celebrities being 
considered, and Wayne might be pushed off to another 
year....but he IS under consideration.


Look for the terror victims charity stamp to come out in 
late January or early February. The Postal Service is 
calling it "The Heroes of Two Thousand One."


The Lunar New Year stamp, for the Year of the Horse, is 
penciled in for mid-January in New York. If so, it'll be 
the first of the ten stamps in the series so far to be 
issued anywhere other than the West Coast or Hawaii.


At a publicity event for the New Jersey stamp in the 
50-state Greetings from America sheet, which comes out in 
early April, a postal spokesman said EACH state would be 
issued again later in the year, individually....but
headquarters says that's not so.
