Celebrities among us.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
It's amazing some of the people who collect stamps. In the 1930s, the stars of philately
were F-D-R and Dracula actor Bela Lugosi. In Hollywood today, there are James Earl Jones,
Karl Malden and Ernest Borgnine.
On Capitol Hill, James Sensenbrenner, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, lists
the value of his stamp collection in his financial disclosure statement...Senator Carl
Levin of Michigan can be spotted at Washington stamp shows...and there are other
collecting members of Congress from both sides of the aisle.
Karl Rove, a key presidential adviser, collects stamps, and word is that Chief Justice
William Rehnquist is one of us, too.
In sports, Lakers owner Jerry Buss and basketball commentator Digger Phelps are stamp
collectors. So is former astronaut Henry Hartsfield.
It's a pretty diverse group. Of course, there's no requirement that stamp collectors
register as such, so it's likely there are more celebrities among us.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
