Two Weeks, Ten Stamps
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Some of the year's most popular issues are concentrated in a two-week period in the middle
of this summer.
Next weekend, a stamp honoring the Korean War Veterans Memorial will be issued as part of
the 50th anniversary commemoration of the end of the Korean War. It shows the memorial in
the snow.
On August first, a reprint of the Purple Heart stamp will be issued at the Americover show
in New Jersey. There's not supposed to be any noticeable difference between the two
versions. We'll see.
Six days later, the U-S issues four new Mary Cassatt stamps, each showing one of the
popular American expressionist's paintings featuring women and children. Those stamps will
be issued at the big national Stampshow in Columbus, Ohio.
And the next day, at the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana, there are
four more stamps honoring early football heroes: Walter Camp, Ernie Nevers, Red Grange
and Bronko Nagurski.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
