Travel Stamps
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
MUSIC: On the Road again.... [and under]
Memorial Day Weekend traditionally marks the start of the summer travel season, and there are
a number of major stamp shows that could provide a jumping-off point for a vacation.
The National Topical Stamp Show is in Milwaukee in mid-June. Topicalists collect stamps by
SUBJECT, and the show's themes this year are Native Americans, wildlife and the Olympics.
In late July, the first day cover collectors -- the people who celebrate when stamps are
issued -- meet in Northern Virginia. And, appropriately enough, ten Aviation stamps will be
issued at their Americover convention.
A week later is the overall national convention for stamp collectors, in Grand Rapids,
Michigan.
"There's over 150 dealers, several first day ceremonies, 150 meetings and seminars, about
15,000 pages of exhibits."
RUNS :07
...says show organizer Ken Martin.
Admission to all these stamp shows is free.
You'll find more details about these shows at virtual-stamp-club-dot-com.
And that's Stamp Collecting this week.
