The Stamp Collecting Report. I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Stamp collecting can be a solitary hobby...a time to relax without having to put on your
public face or even a clean shirt.
But there are some parts of the hobby that are just better with other people -- learning
how to identify varieties or learning a new technique, discussion and especially trading.
Practically every state has a local stamp club. Some communities even have SEVERAL clubs.
Most of them are chapters of the national organization for stamp collectors, the American
Philatelic Society, and the A-P-S lists them on its Web site, stamps-dot-org. It tells
when and where the clubs meet and gives contact information.
There are a few local clubs that aren't affiliated with the A-P-S, such as the Collectors
Clubs in New York and Chicago...but there are other clubs in those areas that ARE listed.
If you don't have Internet access, get in touch with the A-P-S in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania,
by mail or phone.
The A-P-S also has chapters in other countries....or national stamp societies in other
countries may list THEIR chapters.
Most club members are glad to see a new face...and a new trading partner.
Bring your duplicates!
