The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

It's not official yet, but it's all but certain there will be a new Ronald Reagan stamp 
next year, the hundredth anniversary of his birth. Depending on how you count, it will 
be the second or third Reagan stamp in 7 years -- the first was reissued when rates 
changed.

The prospect has the stamp collecting world and many others buzzing. It also raises some 
questions.

Should all presidents be honored with a stamp on their centennials and bicentennials? 

There were four stamps last year for Abraham Lincoln's bicentennial, but none at all two 
years ago for Lyndon Johnson, the architect of the Great Society legislation that 
included civil rights, medicare, medicaid and his War on Poverty.

And what's going to happen in 20-13 when it's the centennial of the only president to 
resign, Richard Nixon?

Ronald Reagan still has his ardent fans, and a new Reagan stamp undoubtedly will sell 
ell....and might just gain the Postal Service some fans on Capitol Hill.

Besides, it'll give all those newspaper editors another chance to show how "clever" they 
are with headlines about how Ronald Reagan left his STAMP on the country.
