The Cash Register Awakens.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Britain’s Royal Mail is issuing 18 stamps to celebrate the Star Wars films. 12 of them are
photos of characters from the six earlier films and the new one being released in December,
The Force Awakens. The other six are vehicles from Star Wars… such as the Millennium Falcon.
Royal Mail says there’s a strong British component in all seven movies: Many scenes were
filmed at Pinewood Studios, many of the actors are British, and so are many in the crew.
Then the press release points out that the United Kingdom is the third largest market for
the Star Wars films, and many Brits are passionate about them… and we’re probably getting
closer to the real reason for these stamps.

All 18 stamps will cost you at least 17-and-a-half dollars — a little high for a set of
stamps. There are also varieties, like a sheet of just Yoda or Darth Vader.
And then there are all the other “products” that today’s postal agencies love to offer
us: Framed sets of stamps, special booklets, and more. You can easily drop a couple of hundred
dollars.
[“I have a bad feeling about this.”]
But I’m probably going to buy at least a set for myself.
