Honoring American heroes.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

For years, many people have wanted stamps honoring Billy
Mitchell and Audie Murphy.

General Mitchell, although court-martialled by the Army for
criticizing American military preparedness, was the
visionary who saw that airplanes could do more in combat
than just surveillance and one-on-one fighting. An airmail
stamp is being issued next weekend at the National Topical
Stamp Show in Milwaukee, whose airport is named after him.

Audie Murphy was the most-decorated American soldier in World
War Two, receiving every decoration for valor offered by the
U-S, and later starring in dozens of movies, including his own
autobiography. Now there's word a stamp will be issued sometime
next year.

More than a dozen countries have depicted John F. Kennedy Junior
on their stamps, usually in conjunction with one or both of his
parents. You can find a list at the Linn's Stamp News website,
www.linns.com. Linn's is spelled with an "I."

And that's stamp collecting this week.

I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
