FDCs of Americover '97

(Click Any Image for a Hi-Resolution View)

Fats Domino Cachetmaker Andrew Doback (ColorCopy) serviced this FDC with both the January 1997 versions of the workhorse Flag Over Porch and Jukebox coils and the linerless versions -- each with their own First Day of Issue cancels.
Herb Barre of Temperance, Michigan, won the 1996 American First Day Cover Society Cachetmakers Contest Awards for Best Printed One-Color Cachet as well as Best Rookie. Here's his Big Bandleaders FDC. Big Bands
Bugs Bunny ColorCopy created these FDCs as the name implies: They're color photocopies, cut and pasted into envelopes. The illustration used as the cachet comes from the back of the sheets of Bugs Bunny stamps. Cachetmaker Andrew Doback peeled off the backing and affixed the entire "collectible card" from the sheet to the FDCs.
This S&T Cachets first day cover for the Yellow Rose self-adhesive coil was computer- printed from an old picture, then painstakingly hand-colored. One of the best seen at AMERICOVER '97's Cachetmakers Bourse for this issue, in our opinion. Yellow Rose
Origami The incredible Hideaki Nakano disassembled a Liberty Bell stamped envelope and refolded it into a true Liberty Bell before having the first day cancellation applied. Shown here are front and back views.
