The Sweet Smell of Success
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
Triangles, holograms, self-stick -- old hat. Stamps with
personal pictures on them? That was LAST year.
This year's stunt stamp is Switzerland's chocolate stamps.
Not only do the stamps look like a section of a chocolate
bar, they SMELL like chocolate.
The margin around the sheet of stamps looks like a foil
wrapper.
The stamps mark the centennial of the Swiss chocolate
manufacturers' association, and cost thirteen-and-a-half
Swiss francs for a sheet of fifteen -- just under eight
dollars U-S. Stamp dealers probably will charge a little
more for them.
The Choco-suisse stamps came out earlier this month. They
aren't the first stamps with a fragrance, but they ARE the
ones everyone is talking about.
The U-S stamp everyone's talking about right now is the
Peanuts stamp, for the comic strip. It shows Snoopy flying
his doghouse, and should be in your post office now.
Canada also recently announced it's issuing a stamp to honor
former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
I'm Lloyd de Vries, CBS News.
