Challenging eBay from abroad.

The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.

eBay is big, eBay is dominant...but in recent years, many stamp collectors feel the giant
online selling site has forsaken them. Other sites are trying to fill that need.

"Basically, we only do collectibles. That means we are specialized. We do what we
know."  :06

Sebastian Delcampe's site is at Delcampe -- D-E-L-C-A-M-P-E-dot-net.

"Presently we have more than 600,000 collectors using our websites."  :05   We (purpose)
them with more than 40 million items." :08

Delcampe is now making a push into the U-S market.

"Presently, 80% of our users are based outside the United States. We are just really
starting here. We come from Europe, Brussels, Belgium. There we are bigger than eBay is in
stamps."  :14

Language isn't a problem on Delcampe.

"Our site is translated into six languages. That means that every e-mail, every interface,
is translated into the user's mother tongue."  :07

It also helps buyers and sellers communicate, even if they speak different languages.

"A U.S. dealer can send an invoice to a Dutch buyer and the Dutch buyer will receive the
invoice in Dutch." :07

Customer service is also in the six languages.

"Most of the time we are able to reply within 24 hours." :03

Delcampe says his first goal isn't to make money, but to serve the collector community.
