There seem to be some problems getting stamps into U-S post offices this year.

There are always some when there's a rate increase, because of all the new stamps that
are issued. But this year seems worse than usual.

Even some commemorative stamps from series that are always popular – like Lunar New
Year – aren't making it into post offices that WANT them – even after requests from
their postmasters.

There's no official explanation, but with all the Postal Service's fiscal problems,
I think many experienced people in the supply chain may be retiring – getting out while
the getting is good.

If there are stamps you REALLY want – like that Year of the Snake or the round Forever
stamp for international mail – there's a solution: Order them directly from the Postal
Service's sales center. Call 800-STAMP-24 or go to U-S-P-S-dot-com, then click on "SHOP."

You'll pay an extra dollar-75 but you'll save on aggravation and gas. You won't have to
drive around to different post offices.
