The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
EBay recently reported a major data breach. The crooks got passwords and other
information about eBay buyers and sellers – including their addresses.
If you have a stamp collection in your home, you probably don’t want potential burglars
knowing where you live.
Nick Lombardi of the American Philatelic Society’s Stamp Theft Committee recommends
keeping a valuable collection somewhere else.
“If you’re not keeping the stamps at home, that’s a good thing. If you have them in a
safe deposit box or a safe deposit vault, that always helps.” RUNS :06
But even if your collection IS somewhere else, or even in a safe…do you really want a
burglar breaking in to look for it? Probably not. That’s why many stamp collectors use
post office boxes – and not just for their stamp collecting activities.
EBay doesn’t have MY home address, just my post office box.
In this era of cyber-searches and data breaches, it’s probably impossible to keep your
physical location completely secret. But you can at least make it more difficult to
find.
