Pull out your wallet.
The Stamp Collecting Report, I'm Lloyd de Vries.
There's something for everyone in next year's U-S stamp
program, and collecting one of everything isn't going to
be cheap.
The highlights include about a dozen space stamps, Road
Runner and Wile E. Coyote, Youth Sports, the Grand
Ol' Opry's Ryman Auditorium, Deep Sea Creatures and
Distinguished Soldiers.
The Postal Service had planned to honor Edward G.
Robinson with the Legends of Hollywood stamp, but it
didn't work out, and the agency is now looking for
another Legend.
The five submarine stamps will come in something called
a Prestige Booklet that's been used in other countries.
One of the stamps is twice the usual width, and will cost
three dollars and twenty cents -- the Priority Mail rate.
The other subs range from 22 to 60 cents. Total -- just
under five bucks.
And there's a large sheet of space stamps -- it looks
almost wall-poster size -- that will cost nearly forty
dollars. It'll contain hexagonal and circular stamps,
and holograms.
Start saving.
And that's stamp collecting this week.
